Believe it or not!
My new journey covers:
Personal Experiences
The history of different religions
Modern Science and evolution
Philosophy
Scriptures - The Bible, The Quran and others
Religions hegemonic influence
Creation - what, when, how, who?
Do I need (a) Religion
Do I need (a) God
What happens next?
It's been a fascinating journey, one I think many people take, particularly as the years roll by.
It was during a children's carol service that I began my excommunication from all things religious. There's a magic about children singing carols, but is the nativity narrative true or hyped or bunkum?
Troubling questions emerged. Why did nobody listen when I frantically prayed during my Mum's miserable demise?
Is there something after our time on earth? It would be a shame if our lives were all in vain, rather like painting the inside of our own coffin - neither we nor anybody else will benefit.
I researched, soul-searched, talked, read and watched. Then wrote it all down, and what emerged was both amazing and surprising.
It's all subjective of course, not definitive.
Did you know ???
The Catholic and Protestant Bibles are different lengths
The 3 Biggest Religious Groups are Christianity, Islam and 'Unaffiliated'
The Bible took at least 1500 years to write, edit and canonize (ratify / collate)
Catholicism started 33 CE, Islam 610 CE, Protestantism 1517 CE. (CE = AD)
Ages 0 to 30 there is almost no record of Jesus in The Bible
We've travelled on boats, vans and bikes, but here begins a voyage of a different kind. This one spiritual.
I wrote it all down and the result is a book:
“God is the name of the blanket we throw over the mystery to give it shape.”
